Family Fun Friday - 'Minibeasts'

On Friday 3rd June, Family Fun Friday will be taking place in the Stable Yard Room. Join our crafty team to make spinning spiders, dangly dragonflies and beautiful bugs. There will also be garden games and dressing up to keep little ones entertained. 10:30am-3pm. Included with admission.

"Sheep" Needle Felting Workshop

Needle Felting is fun & easy! Come along to the Bishop’s Palace for this "Sheep" needle felting workshop by The Happy Felt Club where you can make your own needle felted sheep with a curly coat. Ticket Price: £30 for Complete Beginner (include Needle Felting Starter Kit to take home and wool to make a sheep) £15 if you bring your own Needle Felting Tools and Wool (or wish to buy them on the day at extra cost) *Tea & biscuits will be provided throughout the day. However, Lunch is not included with the ticket. Therefore, please bring your own lunch (if we have nice weather, we can have a picnic in the sun!) or visit the Palace Cafe for their delicious lunch menu. 10am-3pm with lunch break included.

The Railway Children

Chapterhouse Theatre Company proudly presents The Railway Children, the unforgettable and heart-warming story of adventure and family set in the heart of the Yorkshire countryside. The lives of three children are changed forever by the mysterious disappearance of their father. Nesbit’s classic story has delighted adults and children alike for generations and is now brought to life for new audiences in this wonderful production presented in some of the UK and Ireland’s most beautiful open-air venues. With stunning period costume, traditional music and songs and a whole host of unforgettable characters, The Railway Children is a treat for all the family, perfect for a summer evening’s entertainment. Don't miss the Sensory Trail you can go on through the gardens and now is a great time to watch the gardens change each time you follow the trail. All our events are included in the price of admission unless otherwise stated and children under five years old are completely FREE.

Embroidery Workshop

2nd July 2016

Workshop 1: Saturday 2nd July - Luxurious Panel
Get creative and make your own textile panel using sumptuous velvets, braids, metallic threads and beads. This is an enjoyable workshop which shows you how to use very simple techniques to produce stunning textile art to maximum effect. This is suitable for all levels of ability. Your finished piece will be framed for you to take home.

Embroidery Workshop

9th July 2016

Workshop 2: Saturday 9th July - Decorative Buttons
Create your own unique set of embroidered buttons using a technique called Laid Work, which is deceptively easy to master! If you adore playing with colour and thread you will have fun making these buttons . Your results will look rich and elaborate.
Your finished buttons can be used to decorate and elevate a bag, a garment or made into a bracelet. They also look fabulous set within a frame as a piece of textile art.
Metal button blanks will be provided.

Teddy Needle Felting Workshop

12th July 2016

Join The Happy Felt Club for a day's workshop learning to make a beautiful needle-felted teddy!

£25 for Complete Beginner
(include Needle Felting Starter Kit to take home and wool to make a sheep)

(or buy them on the day at extra cost).

Workshop 3: Saturday 16th July - Trailing Tendrils
The beauty of nature is depicted through embroidery throughout the centuries and the trailing tendril is a recurring theme featured on many of the exquisite garments in the Exhibition. You will be designing your own small embroidered panel using couched threads and pure silk for your background. You will also be embellishing your work with beads and metallic threads. Some experience in basic embroidery skills is required for this workshop. Your completed work will be framed. Tuition and guidance will be given for each process.
In conjunction with Every Small Stitch, The Bishop’s Palace will be hosting three new workshops. Participants will be able to learn some of the principal embroidery techniques that have been used in the creation of the beautiful artefacts in The Ornate & The Beautiful Exhibition.

Shakespeare’s death, The Lord Chamberlain’s Men
invite you to join them this summer for Shakespeare’s
sparkling, battle-of-the-sexes comedy, Much Ado About
Nothing.
Triumphant in battle, Don Pedro and his men return to
Messina. The Governor, Leonato, toasts their success by
throwing a masquerade ball where well-intentioned
plots and evil schemes abound as enemies deceive
lovers and friends trick friends in this lively summer
comedy.
“Friendship is constant in all other things,
Save in the office and affairs of love.”
Locked together in a ‘merry war’ Benedick, a confirmed
bachelor and Beatrice, an avowed maid are resolutely
set against marriage. However their friends have a plan.
Their ‘will-they-won’t-they’ relationship is one of
Shakespeare’s funniest and most famous love stories.
“ They never meet but there’ s a skirmish of wit between
them!”
Bring a chair and a picnic and spend a glorious summer’s
evening watching this funny, moving and fast-paced
production of one of Shakespeare’s best-loved
comedies. Performed in the open air, by an all male cast

Racing against the clock, Phileas Fogg and his valet Passepartout travel around the World by any means necessary to see if they can make it back to London in 80 days!
